Since 2008 this prize recognizes the 40 best doctoral theses in Austria of the year. In his thesis Stefan Kuhn has developed novel techniques to optically measure, control and cool the rotational motion of silicon nanorods. His work poses an important step towards future macroscopic quantum experiments.
Stefan Kuhn has received the Award of Excellence 2018 from the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research for his Dissertation “Cooling and manipulating the ro-translational motion of dielectric particles in high vacuum” in the group of Univ. Prof. Markus Arndt.
